Helping You Understand the Patterns. Build the Skills. Create Lasting Change.

Life's challenges rarely exist in isolation. Relationship conflict, anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm often become interconnected, shaping the way we think, communicate, regulate emotions, and connect with the people around us.

Therapy provides an opportunity to better understand those patterns, develop new ways of responding, and move intentionally toward the life and relationships you want to create.

I believe therapy should be collaborative, transparent, and purposeful. Rather than wondering where therapy is headed, you'll understand what we're working on, why we're working on it, and how each session supports your goals. My role isn't simply to provide a space to talk—it's to help you gain insight, develop practical skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you're seeking therapy as an individual, couple, or family, my goal is to help you move beyond surviving difficult circumstances and begin building healthier relationships, greater emotional regulation, and increased confidence in yourself.

My Philosophy

I believe therapy works best when there is a balance between understanding, accountability, and action.

Understanding your experiences is important, but insight alone rarely creates lasting change. Real growth happens when awareness is paired with practical skills, intentional choices, and the willingness to approach familiar patterns in new ways.

Therapy isn't always comfortable, and meaningful progress doesn't always feel easy. There will be moments of support, validation, and encouragement, but there will also be moments that invite reflection, challenge old beliefs, and encourage accountability. Those conversations often become the catalyst for lasting change.

My goal is not to keep clients in therapy indefinitely. Instead, I believe therapy should help you develop the insight, emotional awareness, and practical tools needed to navigate life's challenges with increasing confidence and independence. As your goals are achieved and those skills become integrated into everyday life, therapy naturally transitions from intensive support to reinforcing long-term growth.

My Approach

No two individuals, couples, or families experience life in exactly the same way, which is why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

My work is grounded primarily in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Structural Family Therapy, both of which focus on understanding the emotional and relational patterns that shape our lives. These approaches help uncover the cycles that keep people feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck while creating healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

At the same time, I believe effective therapy requires flexibility. Every client brings unique strengths, experiences, personalities, and goals, and treatment should reflect those differences rather than forcing everyone into a single therapeutic model.

Depending on your needs, I may integrate interventions from:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Structural Family Therapy

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS/Parts Work)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Trauma-informed approaches

  • Psychoeducation

  • Communication and conflict-resolution training

  • Emotion regulation and distress tolerance skills

  • Mindfulness and grounding techniques

  • Solution-focused interventions

My sessions are often educational in nature. I believe clients benefit from understanding not only what we're working on, but why a particular intervention is being used and how it supports their long-term goals. Whether we're processing trauma, improving communication, navigating a life transition, or strengthening emotional regulation, I want you to leave each session with greater clarity, practical tools, and a clear understanding of your progress.

What It's Like to Work Together

Clients often describe my approach as direct, compassionate, practical, and engaging.

I believe therapy is most effective when there is room for both empathy and accountability. You'll find a supportive environment where your experiences are respected, but I'll also gently challenge the thoughts, behaviors, and interactional patterns that may be preventing you from reaching your goals.

If I notice a recurring pattern, we'll explore it together.

If I believe there's another perspective worth considering, we'll talk about it.

If I think a specific intervention or skill could help, I'll teach it.

You won't be expected to figure everything out on your own. We'll work collaboratively to understand what's happening, why it's happening, and what meaningful steps can move you forward.

Many clients appreciate that they always know what we're working toward and leave sessions with practical strategies they can begin using immediately.

Divorce, Co-Parenting & Major Life Transitions

My background as both a family law attorney and marriage and family therapist provides a unique perspective for clients navigating separation, divorce, co-parenting, and significant family transitions.

While therapy and legal representation remain entirely separate services, my understanding of the legal process allows me to appreciate many of the emotional, relational, and practical challenges families experience during these transitions.

Whether you're adjusting to divorce, learning to co-parent more effectively, managing ongoing conflict, or rebuilding after a major life change, therapy can provide a structured space to process those experiences while developing healthier patterns moving forward.

Therapy With Intention

I believe every client deserves to understand where therapy is headed.

At the beginning of treatment, we'll establish meaningful goals based on what matters most to you. Throughout therapy, we'll revisit those goals, evaluate your progress, and adjust our approach as your needs evolve.

My objective isn't simply to help you feel better after a session—it's to help you build the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to continue growing outside the therapy room.

Therapy should provide more than temporary relief. It should create lasting change.

Who Benefits Most From My Approach?

My approach tends to be a good fit for individuals, couples, and families who are:

  • Ready to actively participate in therapy.

  • Open to honest conversations and thoughtful feedback.

  • Interested in understanding the patterns influencing their relationships and behaviors.

  • Looking for practical tools they can apply between sessions.

  • Motivated to work toward meaningful, measurable goals.

  • Interested in both understanding the past and creating a healthier future.

When We May Not Be the Right Fit

Therapy works best when there is a shared commitment to the process.

My approach may not be the best fit if you're looking only for a space to vent without working toward change, want therapy to determine who is "right" in a relationship, or are seeking a therapist who will simply agree with your perspective without respectfully challenging it.

In couples and family therapy, my role is not to take sides. My focus is understanding the interactional patterns that contribute to conflict and helping everyone involved develop healthier ways of communicating, relating, and solving problems together.
